The Agricultural Inputs Division through its agro Service Centres (ASCS) concentrated in the supply of seeds as its major items besides supplying spares, agricultural/garden hand tools, implements & hand tools , plant protection equipments , etc. the turnover of Agro Service centres during the year 2010-11 on account of seeds / agri-inputs was Rs.839.55 Lakh .

 

Industrial And Warehousing Units

Nafed Bio - Fertilizer, Indore & Bharatpur

The products of NAFED Bio-Fertilizer, Indore viz , Rhizobium, Azetobactor and PSB/ PSM continued enjoying the popularity amongst the farming community of India during the year 2009-10 also despite the prevalent of cut -throt competition in the trade. The item PSB/PSM manufactured from these Units enhances the effectiveness of expensive chemical fertilizers like Single Super Phosphate and DAP , has excellent market potential. Being organic fertilizer and soil friendly, it also enhances soil fertility and ultimately productivity .

The other NAFED Bio -Fertilizer Unit which has been set up by NAFED at bharatpur (Rajasthan) started its production activities during May 2001 and is mainly aiming in the manufacture of new produrts viz, Acetobactor, Trichoderma and Composting Culture besides the items of Rhizobium, Aztobactor and PSB/PSM.

The NBF products are marketed through branches /centre located at various places to facilitate proper and timely distribution to the buyers in different parts of the country . The NAFED Bio - Fertilizer hava also started the marketing of liquid Bio - Fertilizers and other to the farming community by out - sourcing the products . The Bio -Fertilizer units are facilitating the farming community to improve their production productivity as well as quantily of their products to greater extent.

The total turnover of NBF Units in Bio - Fertilizer products during the year 2010-11 was to the tune of Rs. 218.03 Lakhs.

Cold Storage , Delhi

Cold Storage located at Lawence Road , Delhi generated earnings of Rs.69.70 lakhs the year 2010-11 .

Nafed Warehousing & Processing Industries,Vashi

This unitis utilised for storage of agricultural commodities.A part of this Complex is being used as bonded Warehouses by the Department of Customs . One cold storage is located in the complex . the total income generated by this Unit By way of rental income on the warehousing activities during the year 2010-11 was of the order of Rs. 79.12 lakhs. 

Nafed Kinnow-grading-waxing Plant, Maujgarh, Punjab

This Unit has been set up for enhancing the shelf-life of fruits, particularly Kinnow, by grading and waxing for export and also for domestic trade. The revenue generated during the year 2010-11 was Rs.9.08 Lakhs.

Nafed Pre - cooling And Cold Storage, Pimpalgaon, Nasik

This unit has been set up grading, processing and cold storage facilities for Grapes for exports as well for domestic market No Business could be handled by the unit during the year 2010-11.

Nafed Krishi Yantra Udhyog , Bhiwadi, Rajasthan

This unit has been given on lease and license basis for undertaking the manufacturing and trading activities of plastic products. The rental income of the year 2010-11 was nill.

Raichur Co-operative Oil Complex, Raichur, Karnataka

The rental income received by way of undertaking warehousing activates in this unit during the year 2010-11 was of Rs. 3.44 Lakhs.

Projects

NAFED has created infrastructure for warehousing, cold storage,onion godown, sorting and grading units, orange/multi commodity pack houses etc. to facilitate farmers to keep their stock as well as its own stocks purchased under PSS.

NAFED has constructed two numbers of cold Storage having 500 MTS capacity along with pre-cooling , sorting and grading facilities for oranges each at Umranalla * Sausar and 11 Collection Centers at different locations in the District of chhindwara (MP) with the objective of export promotion and development of the agricultural and processed food products . for operationalising these integrated cold Chain facilities ,NAFED has incorporated and established a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV)-NSS Satpura Agro Development Company LTD.Under the INdian companies Act, 1956. It is a joint venture company of NAFED, state Trading Corporation & STCL. On completion, the aforesaid cold chain facilities have been handed over to the newly established company -M/S. NSS satpura Agro Development Company Ltd. on 11.05.2010.

Presently, NAFED has warehouses of 54000 MTs capacity, cold storage of 9565 MTs capacity and onion storage of 4400 MTS capacity.

Future Projects

1) construction of 2,000 MT Godown at the unutilized open space of 1250 Sq. MTrs at Bakshi-ka-Talab compolex , Lucknow with financial assistance from NCDC.

2) Member State Federations have been requested to provide land in their respectice states for creation of additional storage facilities and renovation of exiting warehouses & godowns with financial assistance from NCDC.

3) A proposal for setting up Air Supported Warehouse Systems, a new technology on instant storage facilities solutions being brought in by M/s. Winsome Pistelli Construction Pvt. Limited through Pistelli Engenpharia LTD , a Braziian company , is under examination.

4)Possibilities are being explored to utilize NAFED,s leasehold land, admeasuring 2511.25 sq. Mtrs. at Vashi, navi Mumbai for a profitable venture.
