Business Highlights

  • Achieved a turnover of Rs. 2008.51 crore during 2010-11.   
  • There was a gross profit of Rs.4791.98 lakhs, but due to huge interest liability on outstanding loans in Tie-up business, there is a net loss of Rs. 108.52 crore.
  • The share capital increased from Rs .11.29 crore to Rs. 17.99 crore as on 31.3.2011.
  • Membership of the Federation stood at 839 as on 31.3.2011.
  • Continued to enjoy the status of "star Export House" as per Cerficate of recognition issued by Ministry of Commerce , Government of India.
  • In its commercial operations, NAFED achieved a turnover of Rs. 1995.37 crore in domestic trading of various agricultural commodities , which include PSS business also .
  • The export of NAFED during the year were of the order of Rs. 13.14 crore.
  • Continued to be one of the canalizing and monitoring agencies for export of onion. NAFED directly exported 5016 MTs of Onion valued at Rs. 12.00 crore. NAFED also issued NOCs for export of 230695 MTs Onion valuing Rs.333.46 crore.
  • NAFED also exported a quantity of 1200 MTs of Maize valuing Rs. 1.15 crore.
  • Continued to be the Central NoDal Agency of the Government of India For procurement of identified Oilseeds & Pulses under Price Support Scheme . Nafed procured Copra (Milling & Ball), Sunfloerseed, Sesamum, Arhar and Urad of Rs. 140.70 crore under Price support Scheme during 2010-11 .
  • Nafed has also been designated Agency for procurement of Cotton under PSS, in addition to CCI. During the year 2010-11 the prices FAQ stocks of Cotton ruled above MSP in all producing States . Therefore, no procurement of Cotton was made under PSS. However, NAFED sold cotton valued at Rs. 203.30 crore in the domestic market which was procured under PSS during 2008-2009 & 2009-10.
  • Nafed imported a quantity of 28370 MTs valuing Rs 47.05 crore of Yellow Peas and Black Matpe (Urad ) on behalf of Government of India.
  • NAFED imported a quantity of 3000 MTs of RBD Palmolein valuing Rs. 11.83 crore on behalf of Government of India for distribution through PDS.
  • Under the de-centralized Scheme of the different State Governments , NAFED was appointed, as one of the agencies for procuremnent of Paddy directly from the farmers. Under this Scheme, NAFED procured 6.48 Lakhs MTs of Paddy valuing Rs. 678.60 crore and 86339 MTs of Wheat valuing Rs.98.06 crore on behalf of FCI/State Governments.
  • Distributed Chemical Fertilizers including Rhizobium of the value or Rs. 59.77 crore in the States of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, North-Eastern and Southern States.
  • Distributed Seeds of various commodities valued at rs. 40.93 crore to farmers, State Seed Corporations and State Agricultural Departments through network of Cooperative Marketing Societies.
  • NAFED marketed Groceries items like Edible oils, Processed Foods, spices, Tea, Basmati Rice, Pulses etc. valued around Rs.18.83 crore under the NAFED brand name.
  • NAFED continued to sell items of daily needs like onion and Yellow Pea Dal at subsidized rates to the consumers in NCR delhi when prices of these commodities were skyrocketing during December ,2010 & January, 2011.
  • To assist Poultry farmers , NAFED handled EGGs and Poultry Feed valued at Rs.2.70 crore during the year 2010-11.
  • As the corporate Agent of IFFCO-TOKIO General Insurance ( ITGI) , NAFED undertook a business of Rs. 0.79 crore in NOn-life Insurance Sector .
  • Handled Jute and Jute products valued at Rs. 4.92 crore under outright account and Rs. 1.15 crore on agency /consignment Basis in domestic trade.
  • NAFED handled Paddy and Cotton valued at Rs. 6.13 crore in joint venture business during the year 2010-11.
  • Presently, NAFED has warehouses of 54000 MTs capacity, cold storage of 9565 MTs capacity and onion storage of 4400 MTs capacity.
  • NAFED is implementing 5 Organic Projects valuing approximately Rs, 65.00 crore in the States of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab under Organic Adoption and Certification . About 30,000 farmers are registered under these projects in an area of approximately 51,000 hectares.
  • With the objective of export promotion and development of the agricultural and processed food products , NAFED has constructed two numbers of cold Storage having 500 MTs capacity along with pre-cooling, sorting and grading facilities for oranges each at umranalla & Sausar and 11 Collection Centers at different locations in the District of Chhindwara(MP)
